ABOUT OUR CLASSES

TOTS and ME

Tots with Parent ages 2 -3 years

Tots and Me- must be accompanied by a caregiver

Tots and Me is a perfect way to introduce your little one to dance, movement and creative play. This 45 minute interactive class is filled with song and dance plus some fun exploring a movement circuit and singing along to rhymes and songs,

Is My 3-Year-Old Ready for Tiny… or Should They Start in Tots?

Every child develops at their own pace, and choosing between Tots and Tiny is less about age and more about readiness. Both classes are designed to be positive, supportive first experiences with dance.

Tiny Dance may be a good fit if your 3-year-old can:

  • Separate from a parent or caregiver for the full class

  • Listen and follow simple instructions

  • Participate safely in a group setting

  • Take turns and respect personal space

Tiny classes are more structured and focus on basic dance skills, rhythm, and coordination, while still keeping learning fun and age-appropriate.

Tots Dance may be a better fit if your child:

  • Is new to group settings

  • Has difficulty separating from a parent

  • Benefits from more flexibility and gentle guidance

  • Is still building confidence in structured environments

Tots classes are play-based, relaxed, and designed to support early movement, confidence, and comfort in a class setting.

Still unsure?
That’s okay! Many children start in Tots at age 3 and move into Tiny when they’re ready. We’re always happy to help guide families toward the class that best supports their child’s comfort, confidence, and success.

ACRO DANCE

Is Acro Right for My Child?

Acro is a great fit for children who enjoy movement, learning new skills, and being physically active in a structured class environment. Because acro involves strength, balance, flexibility, and controlled skill progression, dancers must be able to listen, follow instructions, and move safely as part of a group.

For safety and support, every acro class is taught by two trained coaches. This allows for proper spotting, individualized guidance, and close supervision as skills are introduced and developed. Our classes follow age-appropriate progressions, and dancers are always encouraged to work at their own pace in a positive and supportive setting.

If your child enjoys challenge, movement, and learning through structure—and can follow directions—acro may be a wonderful and confidence-building choice.

Tiny Acro (Ages 3–5)

Tiny Acro introduces young dancers to the fundamentals of acrobatics in a safe, supportive, and playful environment. Dancers will explore basic skills such as rolls, balances, strength, and flexibility through guided activities and age-appropriate progressions. Emphasis is placed on body awareness, coordination, listening skills, and confidence, with safety as the top priority.

Mini Acro (Ages 6–8)

Mini Acro builds on foundational acro skills while continuing to focus on strength, flexibility, balance, and control. Dancers will learn beginner acrobatic elements through proper technique, conditioning, and safe spotting. Classes are structured to support skill development while encouraging confidence, focus, and perseverance in a positive learning environment.

Star Acro (Ages 9–12)

Star Acro is designed for dancers ready to advance their acrobatic training. This class focuses on developing strength, flexibility, control, and more complex acro skills through structured progressions and safe spotting techniques. Dancers are challenged at their individual level while maintaining a strong emphasis on safety, proper form, and confidence-building.

Dancers will work on style, precision, confidence, and self-expression while being challenged in a positive and motivating environment that supports individual growth and creativity.

TAP

Tiny Tap (Ages 3–6)

Tiny Tap is a fun and energetic introduction to rhythm and sound through movement. Dancers will explore basic tap steps, timing, and coordination using playful music and age-appropriate activities. This class helps build listening skills, confidence, and musical awareness while encouraging creativity and a love of dance.

Mini Tap (Ages 7–9)

Dancers will work on more structured combinations while continuing to develop strength, grace, and musicality in a positive environment that supports growth and confidence.

With over 20 years of experience in dance, fitness, and education, I bring a deep passion for movement, teaching, and community into every class and program I lead. I am a certified Barre instructor through Merrithew, holding credentials in Barre Foundations, Advanced Barre, and Barre Pre- & Post-Natal, allowing me to safely and effectively support dancers and clients at every stage of life.

In addition to my dance and barre training, I am certified through CanFitPro (FIS) and have a strong academic foundation in education, holding both a Bachelor of Education (Primary/Junior) and a diploma in Early Childhood Education.

This unique combination of movement expertise and educational training allows me to create classes that are developmentally appropriate, engaging, and rooted in best practices for learning and physical literacy.

As Studio Director, I am dedicated to fostering a positive, inclusive, and empowering environment where dancers of all ages can build confidence, strength, creativity, and a lifelong love of movement. My approach blends technical excellence with joy, safety, and connection—supporting each student not only as a dancer, but as a whole person.

My love of dance began at the age of five with my very first tap class. As my skills developed, my training expanded to include jazz, step, lyrical, and musical theatre. My passion for performance truly came alive when I joined a step dancing troupe, performing at numerous festivals and events over the years.

These experiences took me across the province, to Maine performing aboard The CAT ferry, and even to the 2010 Vancouver Olympics—opportunities that deepened my appreciation for rhythm, musicality, and performance.

After taking time away from the studio to raise my children, I am thrilled to return to dance as a Tap Instructor, sharing my experience, knowledge, and love of movement with dancers in the community. I’m grateful to be back in the studio and excited to support students as they build confidence, coordination, and a strong foundation in tap.

Dance has been a constant part of my life for as long as I can remember. I began my training in tap and jazz before transitioning into KidzAct, where I explored acrobatics and hip hop—with hip hop quickly becoming my favourite style.

As I grew older, I volunteered as a junior instructor, an experience that sparked my passion for teaching and working with children. This played a meaningful role in my decision to pursue a degree in Elementary Education. I truly enjoy spending time with children and teaching them new skills, though often they are the ones teaching me—especially lessons in patience and resilience.

What I love most about teaching is seeing the positive impact I can make by helping children learn and grow, whether in the classroom, Kids CrossFit, Timbits Soccer, or dance. Although I stepped away from competitive dance in Grade 11 due to the impact of COVID, my love for dance has never faded. I continue to stay inspired through social media and live performances, and when the opportunity arose to teach dance classes locally, I was incredibly grateful and excited to return to the studio in this new role.

Hi, my name is Jillian Stoodley, and I began my dance journey at a young age at Maritime Dance Academy in Bedford. I progressed through the program to ITP Level Two, where I had the opportunity to perform extensively with my classmates. These experiences included performing in schools, senior homes, and annually at the Neptune Theatre, as well as assisting with teaching younger dancers on weekends.

During my training, I completed a Russian Ballet examination, earning a Highly Commended distinction — an achievement I am very proud of.

After moving to Shelburne, access to local dance training was limited, and while I continued to practise on my own, I eventually stepped away from formal dance. I am incredibly excited to now return to teaching and to share my love of ballet once again. Being part of Because Health and having the opportunity to offer dance within the community means so much to me, and I’m grateful to help make these experiences accessible to others.
